Choosing The Best Fit For Your Diamonds Studs
15 Jan 2008

We all know that diamond studs are an important part of any woman’s wardrobe. In fact, when it comes to fashion advice they top the list. And choosing the best fit for your diamond studs is as important as owning a pair.

The setting of the diamonds studs makes all the difference. A stud will either sit tightly against the earlobe or droop down. It’s a waste of your money to invest in a pair of beautiful fine diamonds and then get a sloppy look rather than the fine finishing touches.

When you purchase diamond studs, the carat weight quoted is for the pair of earrings so a 1 carat pair of diamonds would bet ½ carat on each stud. If you go with ½ carat or less the weight is never a problem. They are light weight enough to not have any issues.

But if you prefer a little bling and you are buying 1 carat or more you need to make sure they are balanced. There are three setting types that are commonly used:

The crown settings generally pushes the diamond forward and then the weight is also pushed forward. This usually results in a droopy earring that looks unfinished and certainly doesn’t make a good fashion statement.

The basket style setting is a good diamond studs because it nicely balance the weight of the diamond stud. This means it is displayed nicely on the front earlobe giving you a polished look and certainly making a financial statement.

The martini setting is quite difficult to locate. With this style, the diamond back rests very near the earlobe, almost against it. The center of gravity is pushed back the three prongs hold the diamond nicely in place allowing for the brilliancy of the diamond to show through even more. This is a great choice for larger diamonds.

There are other settings like the lever back or Eurowire. Both are elegant and look great. They aren’t really diamond stud settings but they are used as such.

Your wardrobe needs to have at least one pair of diamond studs. Online shopping allows you to get some amazing pricing that wasn’t available in the past. It’s changed the dynamics of buying. Choose different sizes or styles and have the right pair for your mood.
